When the truth finally dawns on her, she finds it so horrifying that she can not accept it. She does not see the true identity of Oedipus. Jocasta is also another character who, although physically sighted, she has been blind to the fact that her husband has all along been the son she gave away to be murdered. In his blindness, he does not realize that he is in fact cursing himself.
